About
Founded in 2001, the 2nd Regiment, U. S. Colored Light Artillery, Battery B reenactor unit has made tremendous impact in creating a more accurate, diverse and complete portrayal of Black soldiers in the American Civil War. The core of our work lies in fulfilling the goals of educating the public about Black soldiers in the Civil War; honoring the legacy of the United State Colored Troops (USCT); and promoting reenacting as a worthwhile hobby. Battery B travels throughout the Carolinas and Virginia supplying the public with a better perspective of how Black soldiers lived, worked, and survived during this historical period. Battery B serves thousands annually with battle reenactments, living history exhibits and encampments and small arms and artillery demonstrations with passion and dedication. Please join us by supporting our efforts to preserve a vital part of American history while commemorating the role of USCT soldiers in the American Civil War.
What We Do
We preserve the history and memory of the USCT's service to our nation during the Civil War.
